Who we are
Burdade Strategies was started by Alex Barbieri, a highly experienced political data & analytics strategist, in late 2021.
Alex has worked in progressive data & analytics since 2014. He has particular hands-on experience designing, executing, and managing multi-million dollar creative testing programs for Fortune 50 clients and mission-driven organizations, leading data & analytics programs for presidential and statewide campaigns, developing reporting infrastructure and visualizations, project and team management, and has a particular knack for testing assumptions.
Alex’s family is from Venezuela, where he lived for 4 years, but he grew up in Texas and speaks Spanish fluently. He has a B.A. in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Political Management from the George Washington University. In his spare time, he’s a regular at Costco, consistently on the hunt for the best Venezuelan eats, or is playing the schoolyard game of kickball with the DC Stonewall Kickball League.
So what exactly is ~Burdade~?
We hear this a lot. Burdade was derived from the Venezuelan slang, burda de, which is used to note "a lot of" or "a great deal of".
Venezuelans don't just say "muy bien" or "hace frío" we say "burda de bien" and "hace burda de frío". So, naturally, when you convert a 2-word Spanish-language phrase to English, you remove the space, combine the words, and re-pronounce it (bur-deɪd).
All this to say, Burdade Strategies = lots of strategy.
